Religious based shelter. Manna Outreach is a Christian non-profit organization 501(c)(3). Our goals include providing shelter, clothes, food, and assistance to people in or passing through Lea County who are truly in need of such help due to circumstances beyond their control and have fallen through the cracks of government assistance. We also minister this assistance to those who are homeless and/or hungry due to their lifestyle choices with the addition of mentoring them toward independence through work opportunities and resource stewardship training. Thereby we do not create dependent or co-dependent relationships with our agency, but work to break the bonds of entrapment in people's lives through the ministry principles of love and Jesus Christ.

The New Mexico Association of Food Banks was formed in 2000 to support the member food banks around the state and administer state-wide programs and contracts. Our mission is to enhance the capacity of New Mexico’s food banks in order to build a well-nourished New Mexico. The main goal of the Association is to acquire and distribute fresh produce to our member food banks and their partner agencies. Our Fresh Produce Initiative provides millions of pounds of food every year to the 70,000 New Mexicans who seek food assistance every month.

The Food Bank distributes more than 1 million pounds of food each year through various programs: The Agency Pantry Service allows qualifying organizations access to food to supplement their own food pantries. The Food For Kids Weekend Backpack Program provides backpacks to students who may not have enough food at home to feed them over the weekend. Feeding Families is a sister program that provides a referral voucher for families of school children to receive a box of food. Produce to People are free monthly produce markets held in Clovis and Portales. The Mobile Food Program delivers food to rural sites in eastern New Mexico for a monthly distribution of food. Bulk Repackaging allows the Food Bank to accept donations of bulk dry items such as beans and rice and safely repackage them for re-distribution. I Still Care is a nonmedical daily telephone check-in to learn if a person lacks food, medicine or has had an emergency. When these situations occur, we notify the proper emergency personnel.

"If receiving SSI then person will get 1/2 of (amount earned -$20) per month taken from benefit.E.G. Person has $733 in SSI (which is the current Federal Benefit Rate) Person is employed and makes $1000/mo. Person receives $1000-$20= $980/2=$490. $733 - $490 = $243. In total the person would have earned $1000 (work) + $243 (SSI) = $1243. If the person consistently makes 2 times the Federal Benefit Rate of $733 which is $1486 then the person would lose the benefit but would have to maintain that consistently."
