Contact Dawn Begay with the Homeless Outreach Program at 1st Nations for more details. Navajo Housing Authority reps are available about once a month at 1st Nations. Only for those who are part of the Navajo Nation. Opportunity to qualify for short term assistance; best suited for those who can be self sufficient; essentially a Rapid Rehousing program (RRH); not a Housing Choice Voucher.

Insure current contact information is up to date in Coordinated Entry System at a minimum of every 3 months: call NM Coalition to End Homelessness 217-9570. HUD COC.

This model of “rapid re-housing” is widely considered a best practice with an 85-90% success rate in helping families get back on their feet. Families often represent a higher-functioning segment of the homeless population and have the best chance to become self-sufficient after an episode of homelessness typically caused by loss of a job Intimate Partner Abuse / Violence disturbance or other life circumstances which can be overcome with temporary support.
